Former Truck Stop Facility - Georgia

Value of Project: $150,000

Scope: Petroleum Remediation and Site Closure Activities

The facility/site formerly operated as a truck stop and convenience store in the early 1990s. A petroleum release from the underground storage tank (UST) system was discovered in 1999. A Corrective Action Plan was approved by the Georgia Environmental Protection Division (EPD) in 2001 recommending the installation of a Dual Phase Extraction (DPE) remediation system.

Maxis personnel was responsible for optimizing the DPE system, which accelerated free product removal and ultimately site closure. Maxis negotiated the cleanup objectives with the EPD and received a No-Further-Action (NFA) in 2011. Site closure activities were performed and the remediation system was decommissioned.

Maxis worked closely with the property owner, realtor and lawyer through the site closure process to facility a property transaction. The property value significantly increased once Maxis was able to obtain the NFA.
